Original Murdick's Fudge Iconic Favorite

COVID-19 has made an impact worldwide in such a way that we haven’t seen for a century. Very few people who are alive today can even remember how this affected their family and community. The 1918 flu pandemic took its toll on Michigan, killing more soldiers in WWI than fighting the enemy, and is still known as one of the deadliest events in human history. The H1N1 influenza virus wreaked havoc on society and much like today, our health system was overwhelmed and citizens donned face masks to try to protect themselves from disease. Original Murdick’s Fudge survived World War I which impacted fudge making due to sugar rationing bringing businesses to a halt, just to be followed up at the end of the war with the impact of a pandemic. Like then, together we will survive the COVID-19 pandemic too. There will be loss and hard times, but thanks to the many great people in Michigan and our nation, we will persevere. We look forward to future Mackinac Island visitors and serving our hand paddled all-natural fudge to generations to come.

It has been wonderful for us to be a part of history and the resilience of small town America. We hope to keep the tradition for another century to come.
